The following is a list and brief description of events that will be updated periodically.
- Nuclear Non-Proliferation: Hold President Obama accountable for his call to US global leadership in a nuclear-free world by signing this petition. In May 2010, there will be a Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference to chart the future of nukes.
- This past May about 50 Peace Action organizers, along with nuclear disarmament activists from around the world attended a conference on nuclear non-proliferation at the United Nations in New York City.
- The conference was to help organizations and nations prepare for a five year Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference at the United Nations in May 2010. At the five year review conference, governments will assess the progress of the NPT, the most comprehensive international treaty on nuclear disarmament.
- Between now and May 2010, Peace Action is working to gather as many signatures as possible in support of nuclear abolition, hopefully millions between all the organizations working on the effort, to deliver to President Obama.
- Demand Honduran President Zelaya be restored to power immediately.
- Sign the petition here. Let Pres Obama, Secretary Clinton and the United Nations know that you disagree with their lack of action in restoring the democratically elected Honduran president recently overthrown in a military coup.
- Organized by the International Action Center, founded by former US Attorney General Ramsey Clark.
- Net Neutrality Bill: Click here to register your support with your elected representatives for a new Net Neutrality bill that was just introduced in Congress. President Obama has repeatedly called for Net Neutrality. A pro-Net Neutrality chairman is now heading the FCC. Public support has never been greater.
- Giant phone and cable companies still think they can squash our movement–and over the past six months alone, they have hired 500 lobbyists in Washington to try to stop this bill. Companies like AT&T, Time Warner Cable, Comcast and Verizon are still trying to control the Internet.
- As all media move online, the phone and cable companies see your high-speed Internet connection as their new source of revenue, and they’re now scrambling to kill Net Neutrality so they can inspect, filter content and overcharge you for using the Web in ways that affects their profits.
